Charles Slater is a professor of Educational Leadership at California State University Long Beach (CSULB). He previously served as a professor at Texas State University San Marcos and was superintendent of schools in Texas and Massachusetts. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, his MAT from Occidental College-Los Angeles, and his B.A. from the University of Minnesota.  He came to CSULB after serving as the Director of Doctoral Programs at Texas State University and at the University of the Incarnate Word. With this experience, he led the writing of the Ed.D. proposal at CSULB and guided it through the approval process. He now coordinates internal assessment for the Educational Administration Program and has served on numerous college and department Committees.  He teaches and conducts research in educational administration in Latin America and recently served as visiting professor at the University of Barcelona. He taught in the doctoral program at la Universidad del Valle de Mexico for five years and has collaborated with colleagues to publish comparative studies of Mexico, Korea, and the U.S.  He has conducted research on social justice leadership in Costa Rica as part of the International Study of Leadership Development Network (ISLDN), jointly sponsored by the British Educational Leadership Management and Administration Society (BELMAS) and the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA).
