Douglas Major began his career in education as a classroom teacher in Anadarko, Oklahoma, where he served as an agriculture education instructor.  In 1987, he joined Oklahoma’s Technology Center system and served in various administrative capacities at Meridian Technology Center before being named the Superintendent/CEO of Pioneer Technology Center in 2000.  In 2008, Major returned to Meridian Technology Center as Superintendent/CEO.  During this time, he earned both his master’s and doctoral degrees from Oklahoma State University. Throughout his career Major has focused his efforts on improving educational opportunities through participation in Career and Technical Education (CTE).  He has participated in various local, state, and national professional associations and is a recent past-president of the largest national association dedicated to CTE, the Association for Career and Technical Education.  Major was one of 30 selected to participate in the first National Leadership Institute sponsored by the National Centers for Career and Technical Education, was recognized by the National Council of Local Administrators as their Distinguished Service Award recipient and in 2012, The Journal Record honored Major as one of Oklahoma’s Most Admired CEOs.
