Dr. Elizabeth Molina Morgan is currently serving in her ninth year as superintendent of the Washington County (MD) Public Schools, an Appalachian system of wide diversity with a 42% student poverty population. She has worked in a number of senior management roles in Maryland public schools, including: Chief Academic Officer in the Baltimore City School System; Associate Superintendent in the Frederick County Schools; and four positions in the Montgomery County Schools, where she spent the majority of her earlier career as an administrator. During her tenure as superintendent, Dr. Morgan has focused on developing innovative and challenging educational opportunities to serve the needs of a wide range of students who attend public schools. She is a passionate advocate for high academic standards and for transforming schools to reach world-class levels.

Dr. Morgan has been the recipient of numerous fellowships and awards for excellence in education, including being inducted into the Circle of Excellence as one of Maryland’s “Top 100 Women;” having achieved a “Service Above Self” Rotary award; and having been named recently The American Association of School Administrators 2010 National Superintendent of the Year.

She holds a Ph.D. in Administration from American University, in Washington, D.C.
