Mary Jo Self, PhD, is an associate professor in the Educational Leadership program at Oklahoma State University. She holds the Francis Tuttle Endowed Chair in Workforce and Adult Education and is a faculty fellow with the graduate college. Her primary research interests include teacher recruitment, induction and mentoring; career stages of teachers; and the lived experiences of career and technical teachers and administrators. She spent 21 years in public education in Oklahoma as a culinary arts instructor and a career tech administrator before coming to higher education. She holds an Oklahoma standard teaching certificate as well as principal, superintendent, and career tech administrator certificates. She is a recipient of the OSU Regents Teaching Award–Outstanding Advisor Award, is the current past president of the University Council for Workforce and Human Resources Education, and serves on multiple university committees.
